Spotted: Factorie

So I went to have lunch with a friend the other day at Eastgate Mall, which is totally on the other side of where I stay in Johannesburg but I secretly love this mall and if it wasn't so freakin' far I would be a regular. It literally has any store you can think of from Mango, Nine West, YDE... EVERYTHING

While at Eastgate I spotted the cutest store with all kinds of trendy fashion items from printed leggings, chunky knitwear, skater dresses, leather jackets and all the oxblood items you can buy. The store is an import from Australia and is part of the group that gave us the beloved Cotton On.

Printed Leggings...

Peplum, baroque, studded bodycon and skater dresses...

Skinny denim heaven...

If I could I would literally post every item in store! I will however give you the link to the website so that you can see for yourself, maybe make a few online purchases http://www.factorie.com.au/, who knows?

What's also great about Factorie is that because its based in Australia they are currently in the same season as we are down south so you can stay on trend without having to wait until the weather is favourable!

The Blue Print

Someone asked me this week to put up a post about cobalt blue and how to wear this colour without doing the usual blue and red combination. I personally have quite a few cobalt blue items, much to the horror of my financial advisor but hey, I am in the process of recovery right?

Anywhoo, I really like this colour, you can have a lot of fun with it and still be taken very seriously unlike the neon movement.

For a safe day look, pair up a cobalt blue dress with a tan belt and shoes. For a more night time look try on a pair of strappy heels in solid black with your dress and if you are really brave throw on some neon yellow accesories for super chic tone.

Trend Alert: Sweatpants gone sexy...

Firstly, let me apologise for being so MIA these last few weeks. Life has sort of just happened much to the dismay of my creativity! Well without getting too bogged down in the inner workings of my poor time management skills, let's get into a trend I am totally loving.

Sweatpants have turned very sexy and very chic. This trend is bringing a very welcomed fusion between athletic and feminine style with a sexy twist. The sexy factor is obviously in the choice of shoe that you pair your sweatpants with. Go for a pair of pointy pumps or strappy heels to complete your look.

Take a look...

You can get a pair of these sweatpants from Factorie, Cotton On or Quicksilver or any other surfwear stores. Keep an eye out.

Trend Alert: Cut-out Booties

I seriously can’t wait for full on Winter to set in. You may think I am crazy because winters are generally miserable and you go through all kinds of unnecessary weight gain, but I have my reasons. Firstly, my birthday is right in the middle of winter and secondly I prefer winter fashion. I love trench coats, chunky sweaters, scarves, leggings and boots in all shapes and sizes. Speaking of boots…

Cut-out boots are definitely on my “cool” radar.

If you are anything like me, you’re probably thinking how does one actually stay warm in boots that have gaping holes in them right? Well the trick to these boots is pairing them with a really cute pair of opaque colored tights or leggings. Go for a pair of opaque tights that will contrast the booties for an edgy finish.

Mint condition

I am clearly a sucker for pain, it’s either that or I am a super slow learner, I don’t know. I have been having a bit of car trouble over the last week so I made an appointment to have it checked out this week, the dealership doesn’t work on weekends, go figure. I drove to a mall close to home on Saturday afternoon to run some errands, and as luck would have it, I happened to stumble upon a great sale at this cute shoe store, R99 (roughly $10) on ALL shoes in store! Crazy right! Owing to my current economic situation, I could only afford two pairs.

As I walked back to my car, very pleased with myself and my bargain hunting ways, I felt a slight pang of guilt but I quickly brushed it aside. I got in my car and started the engine and nothing… the car refused to start. I was stuck at the mall with a broken down car, these things only happen to me! Serves me right for not staying at home when I knew full well that my car had issues. Serves me even more right for going shopping knowing full well that my pockets have even more issues and coming out with shoes that I probably didn’t need. On the bright side, I have two new, fabulous pairs of heels to add to my growing collection.

Ah well, seeing as I am car-less for the next week or so, my shoe game is going to be on full display. I found these mint shoes in the back of my closet, hadn’t worn them in a while so I thought why not. I love pastel colours so I teamed the shoes up with one of my favourite crossbody bags.

Being car-less means a lot more time on my hands…

Gavin Rajah: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2013 Follow Up

It's official Gavin Rajah is a genius! This collection is so different from any of his other collections but still just as brilliant. He kept true his famous couture gowns style but with this collection he put a more modern, futuristic twist to it. He made use of interesting lines and shapes as well as interesting textures and fabrics ranging from beaded chiffon to gritty military style fabrics, showcasing a lot of monochromatic looks. Gavin Rajah truly knows how to bring out the best in the female form, from plunging necklines, long draping hemlines to gorgeous cut-out gowns, if you are daring enough of course. This collection was just marvellous.
