Happy 2018 my beloved
I won’t make any excuses or give you laundry list of why it’s taken this long to put up a new post, you deserve better than that. I am just happy to be back and trust me its not because I didn't have a lot to say, I always have a lot to say!
When looking back at last year there were so many highs and lows and so many important lessons learned. The overarching theme for me last year was a sense of coming of age, a sense of coming into my own as a woman. I gave myself permission to just be who and what I needed to be without fear of what others would say or how I would be perceived. For the first time like ever I stopped playing the comparison game and allowed myself to run my own race.
It was an incredible journey of shaking off a lot of fears, anxiety, unnecessary pressure and constraints that were placed on me by life, society and especially myself, anyone else feel like they are their own worst enemy? I had to give myself time to delve deep into all my dark feelings and deal with my issues (Yes the D word!). I threw myself into self care practices, a lot of yoga, spending time with my family and quality time by myself.
Along the way I had to learn to respect that this journey was mine and mine alone. I am one of those people who love to share the things I learn with those close to me and I always want to take them on the ride with me but as you can imagine that doesn't always work out. This taught me to respect the journey that other people are on and to not impose my opinions on them. Its called growth (when you read this you have to say it like Kelli from Insecure lol).
Through that experience I was finally able to appreciate that life is meant to be lived and that you can't waste it being afraid of what people will say or whether you will make mistakes. If you take an "L" you can always bounce back! I have always been too hard on myself and hyper-critical but I have learned the importance of cutting yourself some slack, we are only human after all. Everything's not lost!
Right enough musings about 2017, I am grateful to see another year and excited to see what this year holds, treasuring all that I have learned but keeping my focus on what's to come instead of what has been.
Onto this look, I just love this jumpsuit its just so much fun. I currently have an obsession with tassle earrings and I just keep accumulating pair after pair but can you blame me?
